With just Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness just one day away, I thought I would put out my final thoughts and predictions!
These are just what I believe will happen and what I would love to see happen. I have avoided most spoilers online and have not read too deep into any rumors. I am trying to go into the film mostly blind.
More Marvel Cameos
While I just said that I have avoided most rumors and potential spoilers, the one that I have heard and am hoping is true is the rumor that this film will have the most cameos of any Marvel film! After Spider-Man: No Way Home, the idea of other Marvel characters from other universes appearing in the MCU is no longer an impossible idea. With Doctor Strange going across the Multiverse, the possibilities of other heroes he could encounter are endless. It would be a fun opportunity to acknowledge Marvel films of the past and give them their dues or even poke fun at them as No Way Home did.
Now the question is, who could Strange encounter? I am going to list off just a few possibilities and ones that I would personally get a kick out of seeing one more time:
Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool
Reynolds is already being heavily rumored to appear in this film and since Disney’s acquisition of Twentieth Century Fox, people believe his arrival is inevitable.
Wesley Snipes as Blade
With Marvel already having announced a new Blade film for the MCU, I think it would be fun to see Wesley Snipes as Blade one more time. I can also see his appearance leading to a post-credit scene that could act as a teaser for the new Blade.
Nicholas Cage as Ghost Rider
While I was not a fan of the Cage Ghost Rider films, with the newfound love people have for Nicholas Cage, it would be fun to see him appear as Ghost Rider even if just for a second. It could also open the door for Marvel Studios to revisit the Ghost Rider franchise with a new actor to take on the role like with Blade.
Edward Norton as Bruce Banner
This one is the least likely in my opinion, but I would still love to see the possibility of Edward Norton getting a quick cameo as Bruce Banner. I liked Norton’s portrayal of Banner and I thought The Incredible Hulk didn’t deserve the hate that it got. I would also find it funny for Marvel to acknowledge the change in Hulks.
Ben Affleck as Daredevil
This is another one that I don’t think is very likely as we have already seen Charlie Cox appear as Daredevil in No Way Home. I would be lying if I said I was a fan of the Ben Affleck Daredevil film from 2003. But I just think it would be funny to see Marvel acknowledge one of the unpopular films and maybe even poke fun at it. While I don’t think it will happen, I think it would be funny to see.
Now there’s one cameo that I have yet to mention that’s pretty obvious. How could I not mention it here? Well, I will go more into that in the next section.
Introduce the X-Men into the MCU
The biggest rumor that seems to be unofficially confirmed is that Patrick Stewart will be appearing as Charles Xavier. Being a big fan of X-Men and Stewart as Xavier, I am hoping that this is true! But another reason I am hoping that this is true is that it has the potential to introduce the X-Men into the MCU which is something I have been dying to see. Especially after Disney’s acquisition of Twentieth Century Fox which gave them the rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four.
After Spider-Man, X-Men is my favorite Marvel franchise. I have been a fan since the animated series and have also been a fan of the films (aside from Dark Phoenix). While I don’t believe that Stewart’s role as Charles Xavier would continue in the MCU, I think it would at least lay the groundwork for a new Xavier and X-Men to emerge within the MCU’s universe and create a new team for fans to fall in love with. But….if Hugh Jackman were to return as Wolverine, I would not mind that either!!
An appearance from Shang-Chi
The post-credit scene from Shang-Chi showed the titular hero leaving with Wong and being introduced to Banner and Carol Danvers to learn about the Ten Rings. The connection between Shang-Chi and Wong already makes it very likely that Shang-Chi could appear. I would love to see Shang-Chi joining in the fight with Doctor Strange and Wanda.
The connection of Shang-Chi to Banner and Danvers also now creates the possibility of them appearing as well although I think it would not be more than a cameo as I doubt they would want to overshadow Wanda with an appearance by Captain Marvel.
Even cooler and crazier visuals
With the premise of Doctor Strange going across the Multiverse, there is potential for even greater visuals than in the first film. Strange will probably travel across different universes which leads to the possibility of more creative and crazier world designs. With the popularity and hype behind these films, I am sure that Marvel Studios have upped the budget for this film and with that, we should be in for an even bigger visual spectacle than before.
Conclusion
Again, these are just my opinions and predictions. These could very well be dead wrong. But that’s what I love about going in blind. I love not knowing what to expect and being wowed by what I end up getting. I am so excited to finally see this film and can’t wait to see how these predictions come out! Next time I discuss this film will be with the review!!!
